Virgin, Qantas, Jetstar and REX offer daily flights from Sydney to the Ballina/Byron Gateway Airport. Cars are available to hire from the airport. From the airport, Yamba is a picturesque one hour drive down the Pacific Highway. If you have more time though, we recommend taking the back roads instead to stop for a swim at Evans Head or take a walk in the beautiful Bundjalung National Park.
Drive from Brisbane
At just over three hours, travelling from Brisbane to Yamba is straightforward trip down the Pacific Highway. However If you have some extra time, consider taking the Summerland Way scenic route which passes through World Heritage listed National Parks, classic Australian country towns and rural hamlets with vibrant arts and culture scenes – a perfect entree to your beachside escape in Yamba!
Drive from Sydney
Take the opportunity to explore NSW by travelling to Yamba along the Legendary Pacific Coast Drive. This drive will take over seven hours so we recommend planning to take your time to explore the rolling green hinterland, macadamia farms, banana plantations and rugged national parks that open to excellent swimming and surf beaches.
As they say, the journey is sometimes just as good as the destination.
